How I got to where I am
When I was little, I was always writing stories. In high school, my love of writing dwindled amidst the overly-structured, rule-based format of essays. Thankfully, after I earned my marketing and business management degree at university, the passion and skill within me were rekindled in a business development role where I found myself writing and creating various marketing packages. A little over a year later, I went on to work as the sole copywriter for a telecommunications company and its subsidiaries. In this role, I felt like I was finally in the right place professionally!
There was only one problem remaining: I wanted to do it on my own.
At that point I realized my ultimate dream: to start my own copywriting business.
So, in 2009, that’s exactly what I did. I founded Striking Content.
The here and now
Today, Striking Content is much more than a business I run – it’s where I pursue my passion and find fulfillment. I wake up genuinely excited to work, always looking forward to the day’s phone conferences, brainstorming sessions, writing projects – even accounting! Okay, I went too far. Definitely not accounting.
Every day, I sit at my large maple desk, coffee to the right, water to the left, and awake my Mac from its sleep mode. As my fingers drum away assertively on my ergonomic keyboard, creativity flows yet again. And I love every minute of it.
WHY?
This is a question I always ask my clients.
“Why do you do what you do? What is your ‘WHY’?”
Here’s mine…
I write because I love the challenge of taking a thought in my mind and putting it down on paper in a way that is linguistically beautiful, and that has an impact on the people who read it.
I work with clients because I love helping people do what they can’t, or don’t have time for. I feel tremendous joy and satisfaction from giving my clients a written voice they resonate with, and that is reflective of their thoughts, values and business identity.
I own and operate Striking Content because I love working for myself. Extremely driven and hardworking, I am invigorated by my ability to bring my own visions, dreams and aspirations to life every day.
